Motherhood, An Offering| Golden Spike Utah

“This job [of motherhood] has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness.” (Elisabeth Elliot)

What a timely reminder that God has given each of us our “boundaries” in which we find His way. It has not been easy in this season of many needs and not much left for me to meet them, but it’s here He desires my faithfulness.

I’m learning to rely on Him in a new way, as I understand that just about all of this journey (these next few months especially) are out of my control. I don’t know what days I’ll feel ok, when we’ll get to move or where, when the twins will come, or how much of anything will work out! Some days, I’m not even certain we have a reliable car to transport us! I have to lean on Him, and not my own understanding. I had this field trip day planned for a different time, but again, I had to trust. Instead of forging ahead, planning, going and doing as is my natural inclination, I sought Him for every detail...and He gave us the sweetest day together. Our car didn’t act up, neither did tempers. I’m grateful for getting to see His grace, in things that matter to me (maybe not to anyone else) like this field trip. In all places, He will show us His way when we remember to seek Him.

The kiddos LOVED seeing a bit of history from our books with their own eyes! I love showing them wonderful things. We’ve had the best time learning together this year, and I’m grateful His mercies are allowing it to come to a sweet end. Really, I imagine our adventures are just beginning…
