A Simple Truth | How To Live a Life That Matters

I want to live with purpose and passion…every single day. I want a life that counts. Most of us probably do. This isn’t a new desire. I’ve always wanted to live with purpose. I just didn’t know what it takes to do it. Maybe I thought purpose and passion would happen upon me one day….

Jennifer! This post reached out to me in so many ways. It felt like a letter written just for me. God has been trying to teach me this very lesson lately! Thank you for sharing this!

<3 love this more than words can express

Holly - June 4, 2013 - 7:56 am

I fail at this every day, but I so enjoyed reading this and having it as a reminder for this week…you’re just so much of an encouragement Jenn! :)

The Motivation

You cannot sustain a God-given passion or fulfill a God-given dream apart from the One who gave it. He must be the motivation and the orchestrater. I have seen this in my life time and time again. Psalm 52:9 seems to be a reoccurring theme in my heart these days. Today I cannot help but…

Jen, you are a blessing – thank you for writing this!

Harriet - April 22, 2013 - 4:18 pm

Wow! What an exciting new chapter in your lives, praise Him whose plans are better than the ones we have for ourselves! You have such a way with encouraging and inspiring words, I love reading your blog and admiring the beauty in your photography as you live your life for Him.
We had this hymn as the last song in our wedding ceremony, thank you for reminding me of powerful words. x

Wow, what a great reminder. Thanks for sharing. My husband and I are in the middle of a few projects that WE really want to happen, and we have to keep reminding ourselves that that is not the important factor.

Oh, Jennifer… this could not have come at a more better time. Thank you. And congratulations to the entrance of a new + beautiful season!

erin m. - April 22, 2013 - 10:30 pm

Congratulations on this new (awesome!) change. I too long to serve in full-time ministry, particularly in the church, if God would allow. It has been my dream for years. I trust that God knows that dream and that He is preparing to use me in the best way, as only He knows and could orchestrate. I celebrate with you and your husband as I totally get and relate to what you have written here!

I can totally relate to this Jennifer! It’s been a little while but I wanted to say ‘hi’ and that your photography is stunning as ever. You said, “He must be the motivation and the orchestrater”-absolutely, or as in my case, I go no where really fast-despite my best intentions! I’m so thankful that he leads with his infinite wisdom so much better than I ever could fathom. The waiting on him can be so excruciating but when it is finally the ‘right time’ and the right doors open, it is an unfathomable blessing. I’m so happy you guys are doing what you are passionate about and fulfilled in as He leads you both. Blessings! Jeanine

The Best Investment

The best investment you can make with your life is in people. Jesus spent the majority of this earthly ministry walking around with 12 guys, teaching them along the way. What am I doing? Who am I investing in? These are questions I have found myself asking as of late. At the end of my…

Hannah Love - November 28, 2012 - 5:16 pm

Amen!

My pastors would always say “our ceiling is your floor” and I could see their hearts really longed to see me and others grow, even beyond them.

I learned to pour that into others.
And I realized after years of mentoring you can only do this with the power from Christ. It’s impossible on our own.

thank you for this!

Emily Downey - November 29, 2012 - 2:37 pm

Love this. I have read the same thing about being a true leader: that you elevate and promote others over yourself, even if you are really good at what you are doing. Jesus’ life sets an example of the opposite of what our society tells us.
