I feel like I have come into my own more than ever in my life. I think I’ve finally embraced my skin and what makes me…  This past Wednesday I attended Making Brands Happen Webinar with Lara from Southern Weddings and Emily from Emily Ley Paper. They are both such amazing examples of women who have thriving businesses and still have their priorities straight. I truly can’t say enough good things about them! (I mean seriously, have you read Southern Weddings?) I took…

I’ve followed the MTH blog for a year and a half and I always think how great it would be to be able to see them in real life. So excited for what lies ahead for you!  I’m really good at throwing things away. In fact, I relish it. If I don’t need something anymore, then I have a little goodbye party and throw it in the trash. If I’m not sure where to put something, I shove it behind pillows. I loathe seeing messes, but if I can’t see the mess… 
You look pretty! I just love your sense of fashion. and of course your photos are awesome and sweet to see. 
Definitely! I love crossing off everything on that to-do list though sometimes I forget to make one. :-) It is hard to remember to just take the time to enjoy life rather than getting caught up in the deadlines and things we want to accomplish. Great post! 
That is my absolute favorite way to spend a day. It’s so important to be still and rest, knowing our God is bigger than our frustrations, struggles, joys, and dreams. 
Man oh man have I been there… Still get there sometimes, Not as bad as I used to allow myself to get, but its a process. I take sundays. My day of rest. Do enjoyable things, worship & learn with my church fam, outside things, picnic, hiking, etc. Outside is where I fins my rest. Even if its out on the patio by the pool with a glass of red wine :) thankfully with the grace of God and an amazing soul mate, those two helped me through a lot of emotionally stuff. My man doesnt let me dwell too much in my emotional funks, he calls me out pretty quickly and guides me though them. The Lord is my rock & my anchor in turbulent seas. 
I never thought of it that way but I think I’m the same way. This week has been very overwhelming for me and I try to just ignore it instead of taking the time to work things out. I can really use a day off. Thanks for the reminder. 
Definitely find it hard to rest- I’m kind of ‘on call’ all the time! But in terms of shutting my brain off it’s best to write everything on a list and leave it there for me. Also shutting down the computer and tv- they do just keep filling my mind! 
I am in love with that quilt, so pretty! And that seems like the perfect way to rest & let go of the “to-do list”!! :)

I too have trouble with shutting off my brain from the to-do list, I just don’t know how to mentally “let it go.” 
Mm, such beautiful photos! I often feel the same way; I forget to be still and know that He is God. Prayer during a long hot shower never fails for me, and I also love writing it all out in my favourite journal with a hot cup of tea. 
Hahaha just today I was saying: “people are messy; I love messes” Total dependence is key when it comes to rest. Just coming to the Lord with the good and bad (in the moment) brings healing to the soul. Doing a “retreat” on your own, can really refresh you. 
Wow, timing. This is similar to what I’ve experienced recently. I realize I’m not resting enough-the Lord is showing me I need to learn to say no to things. Thank You Jesus for another reminder! Thank you Jennifer=) 
Funny how we can be so alike and so different Ashley! :) That’s why we make good friends! Thanks for the reminders! I’m often so guilty of letting my list rule me. Life is too short for that for sure! Love you friend!

This post resonates with me! I over book, over commit, and am always spinning 12 plates with just two hands. I am in need of taking the trash out too. I find unplugging and clearing my mind a BIG challenge, especially with three children under five and a husband who works long hours. However, your tranquil pictures are vivid reminders that we must take time for ourselves now and then. Thank you for the inspiration.

i love the “things that fire me up” list. i’m going to make one of those! also, love that you have so many feminine touches still in your apartment. when we got married i let go of (or packed away) a lot of my super colourful college decor (pillows, candle holders, baskets, etc) because i felt bad making my manly man live in a place with too much pink, purple, and teal. but they are slowly making a comeback :)

I love it Jen! And I’m glad you have a small space because I live in an even smaller dwelling (one bedroom, sister has to sleep on the ugly couch when she visits) so it gives me hope that even a cosy area can look awesome!

Impressive organizational skills! I love it! For an apartment my living space isn’t too bad. Especially since I don’t have a roommate at the moment. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Then after going to NYC in May and then just getting back from Chicago, I’m realizing that small spaces isn’t necessarily bad. If you know how to use the space, small isn’t bad at all!

Love what you did with the room! You’ve inspired me to try and spruce up the tiny space I have to work in!  You’re never really ready. Those words resonated in my heart like a loud voice in a cavern. The other night I was organizing my office while listening to some of Hillsong Conference on my iphone. Honestly, what could be a better compliment to clearing clutter than worship (and maybe eating a little tomato bisque)?…

Beautifully written Jennifer. Like you I come across being confident, but I also struggled with insecurities and the fear of failure. Love these verses you picked out. I’m so thankful for a God who uses me despite my imperfections!

This is such a good reminder that we don’t have to “have it all together.” God chooses to use us in our weaknesses so we have to abide all the more in Him. That is so humbling and freeing at the same time.
