“I walked out to the hill just now. It is exalting, delicious. To stand embraced by the shadows of a friendly tree with the wind tugging at your coat-tails and the heavens hailing your heart – to gaze and glory and to give oneself again to God, what more could a man ask? Oh, the…

Great post! This remind me of one of my favorite C.S. Lewis quotes.

We are half hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.

I remember that in Shadow of the Almighty. Such a wonderful gem of literature.

I had a similar moment today while driving. The sunbeams were bursting through gray and rain-heavy clouds, it was glorious. God is causing the sun to shine and the light was piercing through the darkness. It was phenomenal. I was in awe even as I was traveling at high speeds.

Who is like the Lord?

Message In a Bottle | The Story

I am a dreamer. There are ideas constantly darting back and forth in my head. Most of the time, my ideas don’t get very far. They are either down right awful, just ok or don’t work at present. Not all of my ideas will be brilliant, and that’s just a part of the creative process….

Ethiopia…revisited in b&w

I wasn’t too crazy about them because I took them with my old Canon Powershot, but last night I processed a few of them and the black and whites really moved me. so, so awesome! sounds like it was an amazing experience and time. i can’t wait for the cd now ;) oh and love the pics!

Natalie @ NS Pottery - January 9, 2012 - 5:53 pm

Wow. I can’t even imagine! I saw a photo Beth Moore tweeted a few days ago of a huge group of girls and wondered if you were in it…? :) I think the biggest thing that sticks out to me is the fact that I often fear the darkness. We don’t need to because Christ is so much more powerful than that and how are we going to spread light in the darkness if we are afraid!

How does this passion thing work? Is it in a different location every year?

Sarah - January 9, 2012 - 7:50 pm

Jennifer-I’m new to your blog and my leapt with joy to hear your passion and enthusiasm for Jesus!! Yes, I believe in this generation! In so many ways I feel like the young are the ones who are really understanding what it means to be disciples of Jesus and how to have a relationship with Him!

Hey Sarah! That is awesome! I definitely hope we change the world! I have big dreams for this generation!

jennifer blair - January 9, 2012 - 10:36 pm

Hey Natalie! No, I wasn’t in that photo. I think those were the 1,000 girls that were sponsored by Living Proof Ministries. Passion is actually all over the world, but they have the biggest one in Atlanta every year. Next year there will probably be over 70,000 people! Passion just gets a bunch of speakers and worship leaders to come and bring the word and lead in worship. Most of the time they don’t even put their names in the publicity stuff. They just want you to come because you want to hear from God and worship Him.

jennifer blair - January 9, 2012 - 10:36 pm

I can’t wait for the cd either! It’s going to be awesome!

Ahhh I so wanted to go. When I worked at McLean Bible Church (right before I had my son Judah) I went to Passion when it was here in the DC area (george mason) and it changed my life forever. I was already a believer/working for a church but the conference stuck a fire in my heart and I went on a missions trip to the garbage slums of Cairo a few months afterwards. We just have to wait a few more years /till Judah is older till we go on another missions trip so we can bring him along.

I’m so incredibly jealous! I wanted to go so bad! AHHH! My cousins go to UGA, so I was going to stay with them, but it just didn’t work out with my schedule… I had to be back at school on Jan. 3rd.
I’m so glad you had such an amazing time.
I’m going next year. I have to.

Ky

Thank you for sharing what you got out of Passion 2012. Some of the things that blessed you encouraged me, especially the part about hearing God’s voice. I’m currently in a really comfortable, content spot in life with a wonderful husband and two little girls, a great church family, living a place I love and am familiar with. I’ve been getting anxious the past couple days thinking about the reality of God possibly moving us across the country by this summer to a foreign place where we won’t know a soul. But your passion to go anywhere and do anything for God reminded me of my initial excitement to be sent on a [possible] new adventure with my family.

I was there too and oh my goodness, it was truly a magical few days. I’m so glad you got to go and I love your take-aways!! Since coming back to reality (and snow) in central Illinois, it’s been so different having people (probably not intentionally, they just don’t know better) telling worldly lies every day rather than be in that atmosphere of uplifting truth we had at Passion. I’m actually headed to Kenya this summer thanks to God leading me at Passion and I’d love if you’d check out my blog! I love hearing from bloggers all over the country who went to the conference. It’s so inspiring!
